Marlene Joan Carney, age 79, of Clinton, Connecticut passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 10th, 2022 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was born in Pennsylvania on April 2nd, 1943, a daughter of the late William and Thelma MacGregor.
She is survived by her loving children, daughter Jocelyn (Howard)Clapp, son Christopher (Kristine) Carney Jr, and daughter Tara (Mark) Loos. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Christopher Carney III, Roger Clapp, Stephanie Clapp, Melissa Carney, Leslie Clapp, Brian Loos, Audrey Loos and sister Jan (John) Poulsen. Joan was predeceased by her loving husband of almost 50 years, Christopher Carney Sr and sister, Jean Mierzejewski.
Joan retired from Hospital of St Raphael and enjoyed a home in Naples Florida before settling in Clinton. She loved traveling between her home and children's homes in South Carolina and Connecticut. Joan was a fiercely independent woman, always up for an adventure, supported her family unwaveringly and had loyal friends who cared deeply for her. Joan's grandchildren brought her the greatest joy. She cherished and appreciated their individual strengths and accomplishments and was very active in their lives. Joan will be missed and leaves a hole that only prayers and time can heal.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 16th from 10 AM - 12 PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 12 PM at Swan Funeral Home, Clinton CT. Burial to Resurrection Cemetery in Westbrook.
