Jarvis Wood Nichols of Clinton, CT passed away on Friday, May 13, 2011 at Middlesex Hospital, after a long battle with heart disease. He was for 62 years the beloved husband of Evelyn Bahr Nichols. He was born on October 12, 1922, in Hackensack, NJ. The son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Edson Hoyt Nichols. He was a graduate of the Pawling School, Pawling NY. And studied at Cornell and Columbia Universities. During World War 11 he served as a 1st Lieutenant in the 11th Airborne Division of the 8th Army in the Pacific Theater of operations. For 20 years he was associated with American Cyanamid in NY City and Wallingford CT, and later with Norman Benedict Associates of Hamden, CT. until his retirement. Among other things he was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and the UCONN Women’s basketball team. Besides his wife, he leaves a son Christopher and his wife Ann of Barnstable, MA. Four daughter’s Jennifer and her husband John Wilson of Plymouth MA. Betsy of Westerville, of OH. Holly of Clinton CT., and Nancy Craig of Atlanta, GA. As well as 11 grandchildren a 7 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his Siblings, Edson, Charles, and Emily Stevens, and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may visit the Swan Funeral Home, 80E Main St. Clinton, Wednesday May 18, from 5 to 7, with a service at 7 at the Funeral Home, including full military honors.
