Jack E. Hanson, 73 of Clinton, passed away July 13, 2011 at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was born February 19, 1938 in New Haven to Edward and Virginia (Stanford) Hanson. He is preceded in death by his parents and step-father, John Canning. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Claire (Ferguson) Hanson and two daughters; Karen Hanson and Jeanne Nerkowski and her husband Tom Nerkowski Jr. Jack is also survived by his brother, Eugene Hanson and his wife Mary, his brother-in-law, Charles Ferguson and his wife Leslie, one nephew, three nieces and two grandnieces. Jack was a self-taught Master Carpenter. He built his family’s home and countless pieces of custom furniture and cabinetry for family and friends. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, generosity and deep concern for others. Jack will be missed by his many cherished friends. Family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Sunday, July 17 at Swan Funeral Home, 80 E. Main Street, Clinton. A Mass of Christian Burial be celebrated on Monday, July 18 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 54 Grove Street, Clinton at 11:00 am with Committal to follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Clinton. The procession to St. Mary Church will be leaving Swan Funeral Home at 10:30 am on the morning of the funeral.
