John “Jack” Coughlin, 85 of Clinton, CT, husband of Nancy (Gilmore) Coughlin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 5, 2014. He was born in New Haven, CT on December 25, 1928. Son of the late John J. Coughlin and Amanda (Piontek) Coughlin. He is also survived by five children. Margaret (Doug) Fisher, Paul Coughlin, Patrick (Barbara) Coughlin, Maureen Richards, Glenn (Kari) Coughlin and seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and aunt and uncle. Jack was predeceased by Sisters Mae Stonski and Jean Doyle and son-in-law Tom Richards.
After graduating from James Hillhouse High in 1946 he joined the Navy and served honorably for two years. He was a senior foreman for 22 years at Armstrong Rubber Company in West Haven and was employed at Clinton Paint and Decorating store for 10 years.
Jack was a hard worker and devoted family man who was endowed with a great Irish sense of humor.
A funeral mass will be held for him on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM at ST. Mary’s Church, 54 Grove Street in Clinton, CT. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Estuary Council of Seniors, 220 Main Street, Old Saybrook, Henry Carter Hull Library in Clinton, CT, or Guilford VNA.
