George Leo Rosenbaum, age 82, passed away peacefully at home in Clinton, Connecticut on October 9, 2022 with his best friend and beloved wife of 47 years, Madelyn Milano Rosenbaum, by his side. He was the eldest son of the late Leo and Rita Rosenbaum. In addition to Madelyn, he is survived by brothers Bernard, John, David, Lambert, Luke, Karl, and Chris; and sisters Janet, Agnes, Lucy, and Mary and their spouses and children. George was predeceased by his brother Norbert.
George was a deeply spiritual man who loved people and nature. He graduated from Maryknoll Seminary in 1967, and gained his Doctorate of Ministry thereafter. George served God and his fellow man throughout his life via his Christian counseling practice, active membership in St. Lawrence parish where he served on the parish council, and as a proud member and former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #9407. Having grown up as the oldest of 13 siblings on the family farm in Stoystown, Pennsylvania, George was an avid and highly skilled outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and garden.
George will also be sorely missed by his nieces Marcella Hourihane of Guilford, Connecticut, and Madelyn Killion of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and their spouses and their children to whom he was a devoted and much appreciated grandparent. George always made time to answer a child’s question or teach a skill. He gladly taught the kids to fish, shoot, work with tools and operate and fix machinery. He was a wonderful grandparent to them.
George will be missed by all.
The family will receive friends at the Swan Funeral Home, Clinton, Connecticut, Wednesday October 19 from 4 pm-7 pm. A funeral mass will be held at 9:30 am Thursday, October 20 at St. Lawrence Church in Killingworth, Connecticut. A reception will be held in the church hall following mass.
