Frank Riccio Sr.

He was born in New Haven on July 23, 1925, the son of Raffaele and Angiolina (Perrotti) Riccio. He was the widower of Joyce B. Riccio.

Mr. Riccio was a veteran of World War II, serving in 6 missions in the US Navy on an L.C.I. He earned the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and was at Enzio, Italy and involved with securing the Island of Elba from German invasion. He was previously employed at Marker Motors, Jim & Neno's Restaurant where he was a singing waiter, Whitney Blake, Yale New Haven Hospital, and retired from Southern Connecticut College in 1995. He was a cantor at Blessed Sacrament Church in the 1960's and 70's. A member of American Legion Post 88, the Elks, Parents without Partners and Hamden Stroke Club. Frank was a player/ manager of Whitney Blake Softball team during the 1970's.

He cherished birthdays and family gatherings, singing his favorite song "MY WAY" at social events with his friends, fishing, and visits to Florida in his beloved camper.

Mr. Riccio is survived by his children Mary (Harry) Russo Jr, Frank Riccio, Jr., and John (Carrie) Riccio; grandchildren Harold Russo III, Joyce Quinn, Adam (Angela) Russo, Michael Russo, and Alexander Riccio, Emily Riccio, and Aaron Riccio; 7 great grandchildren; and his long time companion Florence Bergamini.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his siblings, Ralph, Louis, Augie, Angelo, Jenny, John, Nicki, and Ida.

The family would like to thank Florence Bergamini for her friendship and caring. Also the staff and residence of Eagle Pointe/Suffield House for providing a safe and loving environment, where our Dad enjoyed making many new friendships.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday May 15th at 11am in St. Lawrence Church, 7 Hemlock Dr., Killingworth. A calling hour will be held at church on Monday for one hour prior to the service from 10-11am. Burial with military honors will follow in Beaverdale Cemetery, New Haven.
