Roy Johnson, age 74, passed away Monday, December 21, 2015 at Fairview General Hospital. He was the son of the late Brooks Johnson (Bertha) and late Maggie Hamm. Prior to enjoying his retirement, Roy was a driver for UPS for 38 years. He was honored as a “Circle of Honor” member for his many years of safe driving and dedicated service. Roy also served in the US Army and was stationed overseas. He acquired his private pilot’s license and enjoyed volunteering at the local airport. During his retirement Roy enjoyed classic cars and attended many car shows with his brother John, vacationing to the Florida coast, playing golf with his former coworkers and watching his grandsons play baseball and football.
Roy was the devoted and loving father of Tammy Johnson (Janet) and Teresa Wright (Don). Proud Papaw of his five grandsons: Joshua, Tyler, Caleb, Jarett and Jordan Wright. Brother of John (Agnes) Johnson, Phillip (Betty) Johnson, David (Rosalie) Johnson, Rocky (Ronnie) Turner, Mary (Mark) Diggs, Sharon Jenkins, Pamela Taylor, Kathy (David) Fahrer, Luella (Johnny) Justice and Cindy Chaney. Roy was also survived by numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including his former spouse Mary (Marshall) Hargett and his dear friend Alberto Negron. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by four sisters, Emma, Jean, Mary Alice, and Linda; one brother Clayton and a cherished Nephew Kelly Johnson whom shared Roy’s passion of cars. Roy was a truly loyal, generous and giving man with an amazing sense of humor. He had the ability to make you smile. He will be deeply missed.
