I met Oscar in 1979 when Sharron started studying the Bible with me.   My family especially my husband and mother were Very opposed to my studies.  Oscar and Sharron were my "Rocks" I will always be grateful for their Love and Patience.  Oscar was always just a phone call away no matter what time of day or night. There are no words that can express the love I have for him in my heart.   Sharron, I Love You and I can't wait until WE hug Oscar together in paradise!!!

To the Merritt family: Despite how hard it may be to have lost your patriarch to the “last enemy,” indeed a spiritual legacy has been established by both him & your mother.  May each of you continue to cherish that legacy, and the many wonderful memories that you have had with your father. To have had as your family head someone who was beloved by so many of us in Cleveland and many other areas is indeed a blessing from Jehovah; one that never be forgotten. Our hearts and prayers are with each of you, and will continue to be until your grand reunion in Jehovah’s promised new world. We love you all!

To Sister Merritt: It really goes without saying how appreciated you are as a faithful wife and primary caregiver to your dear husband, but know that- in Jehovah’s eyes- “One gives generously and ends up with more” (Proverbs 11:24a) Thank you for sharing Brother Merritt with us, and for giving of yourself to care for him when it was needed the most. We love you!

Oscar was the most beautiful and fisty brothers I’ve ever known to know him was to love him I have nothing but wonderful memories of him he will always be a part of my family that I will truly miss can’t wait to see him again .(he didn’t play )but it was always to keep us safe in Jehovah’s loving care and because he truly loved Jehovah and that was so appreciated by me and all who knew him I’ll definitely miss my dear brother and friend ,my prayers will continue to be with Sharon whom I always admired and love as well as his family stay strong it won’t be long before we’ll all be reunited again. When I first met "Mr." Merritt , as a young girl in East Cleveland, he wasn't my brother.  I'm glad that I had an opportunity to find Jehovah and know "Bro" Merritt as my brother.   The Merritts have always been a nice family. 
He will be missed.  Can't wait to meet him again.  

Brother Merritt was such a solid fixture in the organization my entire life. Warm, loving, kind and approachable come to mind. Seeing him yearly at the summer conventions was a treat and our little chats at the assembly is something I will remember until I see my friend again. Love and condolences to the Merritt Family.

I would like to send my condolences to the family and my prayers 
I’ve been knowing  Bro Merritt a long time.   I’ve always enjoyed the talks he gave.  Also, how   Sis Merritt and he took the time out to get to know my mom and was there for us growing up.   He will be truly missed.    

I remember when Oscar frist came to our book study he listen intently at meeting after the prayer Gene asked if there was anyone who would like as personal BibleStudy Oscar accepted a study and progressed  rapidly and a lasting friendship developed with our families we enjoyed vacation and anniversaries Love You miss you Buddy Shirley Mann Family 

Oscar was a wonderful husband, father to our family and many others.  He had a kind disposition but would put u in place if u needed it.
He loved his family and we always came first in his life.
He loved Jehovah’s organization and helped whenever and wherever he as needed.  He truly will be missed.

Dearest Dad, you were truly a PATRIARCH of our family! A wonderful man, a loving & devoted husband and a great father! What more could a wife and children ask for!! Even though you are no longer here, you held on until you took your last breath, and after your last breath,  I grabbed your cheeks, kissed your forhead & I looked into your eyes and said " well done Dad......WELL DONE"! You left us in such an amazing way! You truly lived a long life and I want to live long just like you! We had a great upbringing & all throughout our younger years to adulthood, you taught & instilled in us good morals & values.
