He was born on October 17, 1952, in Saigon, Vietnam, to the late Bong Thi Lam and Sau Van Lu. No’s life journey was one marked by resilience and courage. As a young man, he served valiantly in the 1st Battalion of the Republic of Vietnam Airborne Division, displaying unwavering dedication to his country.
In 1975, facing an uncertain fate, No made the life-altering decision to flee Vietnam for the United States. He eventually arrived in Cleveland, Ohio, where he embarked on a long and distinguished career as a skilled tool and die maker. No’s work ethic and exceptional talents were widely recognized, earning him admiration and respect in his profession.
In 2022, No experienced a deeply meaningful milestone when he was joyfully reunited with his family in Vietnam. This reunion was a momentous occasion that filled his heart with immense happiness and provided him with a profound sense of fulfillment.
No Van Lu was a man of many facets. He was an avid football fan. He was known for his zest for life, relishing the company of close friends, savoring good food, and sharing memorable moments over beers. His unique humor and laughter brought joy to those fortunate enough to know him.
Above all, No was defined by his unwavering love and devotion to his family. His love knew no bounds and was wholeheartedly reciprocated by his loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and camaraderie that will forever be cherished.
In addition to his father, No is survived by his loving children: Eric Lu (Andreae), Alicia Hamilton (Jedediah), and Mandi Lu (David Zelaya); his caring brothers, My Lu and Chau Lu; his devoted partner, Chau, and her family, including Tam Duong (Febie); and his cherished grandchildren, Tam Jr., Caleb, and Isabella.
The family will receive friends during the upcoming Memorial Service on Saturday October 7th from 12 pm to 4pm at Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home, 14768 Lorain Ave, Cleveland, OH 44111, where we will gather to celebrate the remarkable life of No Van Lu and bid him a fond farewell.
