Michael Blake Bennett Sr.

Michael B Bennett Sr. (Mike) was born November 15, 1960, in San Diego, California, to the late Benjamin and Jeanette Bennett. Michael was one of twelve siblings and in 1966, Benjamin relocated his family to Cleveland, Ohio.

Michael was educated in Cleveland Public School system, graduating from East High School. Michael worked at Hopkins Airport for many years but dedicated his life to the Cleveland Municipal School District as a Bus Operator for over 25 years. He had a commendable work ethic and was one of the most dedicated and trustworthy employees.

Michael married Mary Bennett who proceeds him in death leaving behind four children: Michael Bennett Jr, Lonnie (Taryn) Cage Jr, Steven (Andrea) Bennett, Martika Cage and thirteen grandchildren.

Michael accepted Christ very early and later joined Emmanuel Baptist Church where he was a faithful member. If you know Michael, he was the Three C’s: Caring, Confident, and Competitive. He enjoyed driving and road trips with the love of his life, Mary Bennett. He loved going to bingo and bowling, but on Sundays he went to church, came home and watched his sports while eating his favorite snacks, Goobers and Peanuts.

Michael was preceded in death by his loving parents, Benjamin and Jeanette Bennett; best friend and wife of 21 years, Mary Bennett; brother, Richard Bennett; and sister, Elizabeth Vaughn.

He leaves to cherish his memories, nine siblings; Alice McKinney, Benjamin Bennett Jr., Gloria Allen, David Bennett, Marilyn Bennett, Mary (Terrence) Timmons, Christopher (Ramona) Bennett, Patricia and Kenneth Bennett; three brother in laws; Gregory Vaughn, Greg Baldwin, and Eric Baldwin; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, cherished friends, and his church family.

A visitation for Michael will be held Friday, December 8, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cummings & Davis Funeral Home, 13201 Euclid Avenue, East Cleveland, Ohio 44112. A wake will occur Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 7901 Quincy Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44104. A home going service will occur Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 7901 Quincy Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44104. An interment will occur Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Cleveland Memorial Gardens, 4324 Green Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44121.
