Majie L. Haynes, born March 1, 1933 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She was the fifth of eight children of the late Homer and Lessie Ellis.
Majie received Christ at an early age and was baptized at Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Majie graduated from Bay Springs High School and was a licensed Cosmetologist.
In 1958, she married the love of her life, Joe A. Haynes. In 1968, Majie, Joe and their four children joined Liberty Hill Baptist Church. Majie was a member of Circle Number 12.
Majie worked as a Nurse Assistant for Eastern Star Nursing Home for 30 years before retiring.
Majie loved crossword puzzles, Tic Tac Toe, sewing, dining out (Smokey Bones), and cooking for her family. She was known for her sweet potato pies and sweet tea.
On January 12, 2023, Majie went home to be with the Lord. Preceding her in death were devoted husband, Joe A. Haynes; sisters, Gennie Mae Simmons, Essie May Blake; and brother, Deacon Albert Charles.
Majie leaves to cherish her loving memory, her siblings, Dorothy Satcher of Shubuta, MS, Reverta Ellis Garraway of Hattiesburg, MS, Eddie George of Hattiesburg, MS, and David Ellis of Shubuta, MS; children, Sheila Haynes, Minister Terence Haynes, Tracy Haynes and Martin Haynes (Angela), all of Cleveland, OH; seven loving grandchildren, Candance Haynes, Ashley Haynes, Ahmal Haynes, Brandon Haynes, Bryce Haynes, Bryan Geiter and Desean Ingram; great grandchildren, Imani Haynes, Lela Marshall, Sirsean Ingram, Devon Bridges and Isaiah Townsend; sister-in-laws, Gwendolyn Haynes and Mary Sue Ellis of Toledo, OH; brother-in-law, Robert Haynes (Jackie); and a host of other relatives and friends.
A visitation for Majie will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cummings & Davis Funeral Home, 13201 Euclid Avenue, East Cleveland, Ohio 44112. A wake will occur Friday, January 27, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, 8206 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44103. A home going service will occur Friday, January 27, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, 8206 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44103. A burial will occur Friday, January 27, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, OH 44273.
