Joe is survived by his father, Russell Bruce, mother Tonya Porter; his four children: Gabrielle Pennymon, Therese Bloom, Autumn Bloom, and Lilian Bloom; two grandchildren: Omari Blue and Moriah Blue; as well as two siblings: Michael (Anne) Bloom and Jerry (Kristina) Porter.
Joe was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. From an early age, he charmed everyone he met with his green eyes, smile, and magnetic personality. Joe provided and received love from both his large family and wonderful friends whom he considered family. In the years following graduation from Berea High School, Joe enlisted in the Navy, where he spent time on bases in both Illinois and Virginia. Utilizing the skills developed during his military service, Joe spent time in the medical and lending fields. He eventually parlayed his love for computers and technology into a career in IT, gaining multiple certifications in the process. His work in IT combined his love for technology and his love for helping people.
Outside of work, Joe loved spending time on his hobbies including building computers, video games, and watching movies in his home theater. He also loved any chance to spend time with family and friends playing card games, cornhole, darts, and watching his favorite sports teams. Joe’s greatest love of all was his four daughters, often mentioning them as his greatest accomplishment. Despite relocating to North Carolina from Ohio in recent years, he worked hard to maintain a close relationship with them. Joe’s favorite part of the week was the back-to-back marathon phone and video calls with his daughters to catch up on their lives. Joe had a lasting impact on everyone he met. He will be truly missed.
A Celebration of Life for Joe will be held Friday, November 17, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Craciun Berry Funeral Home, 7200 Detroit Ave, Cleveland, Ohio 44102.
