So Jonathan, the little red-headed boy I met when he was just a toddler, grew up to be an awesome man of God!  What a joy to read about all the ways in which he served the Lord, and to hear about how he met his wife through the bus ministry.   I'm amazed at what God can do when we allow Him to work in our lives. 

I am so blessed that the Plums have allowed me to be an unofficial member of their family - a family that has known heartache, troubles, and discouragement, but also a family that has seen and known the mighty power of our God.  I love you all, and I'm praying for you all.  

Our hearts are with Lauri, Makenzie, and the entire Plum family at this time of grief. Please know that we are holding you all up in our prayers whenever the Lord brings you to mind. We will certainly miss Jon's presence around our church, but his testimony will live on in the many lives he ministered to while he was here. We love you all!

My Daddy, Ken Williams, loved Jon so much. Jon was so wonderful to visit him in the hospital so many times as Daddy was headed home to Heaven. I know that Jon is reunited with his father & brothers.  I like to think my Daddy met Jon there with a to-do list for them to work on together - because the Lord rewards those who have served Him well and my Daddy was a putterer & always had a project to do and it was hard on him as he couldn't do those 
 little projects as he grew older - now Jon can help him!!! Praying for the entire Plum family as they grieve the absence of their loved one, but rejoice that he is with our Savior!

TO JOHN'S FAMILY;

I KNOW THE PAIN OF YOUR LOSS. WE CAN SAY ALL THE PAT ANSWERS; HE'S BETTER OFF...HE'S IN GLORY ETC ETC.  I'M NOT TRIVIALIZING THESE WONDERFUL TRUTHS. THEY ARE OUR HOPE. BUT WHAT ABOUT NOW...THEY ARE GONE...THERE IS A GAPING HOLE IN OUR HEARTS. I HAVE NO ANSWER...BUT TIME...BUSY FOR CHRIST...HONOR THEIR MEMORY...TRY TO HELP SOMEONE ELSE. GRIEF EVENTUALLY SCARS OVER... THE SLIGHTEST THING CAN OPEN THE WOUND AGAIN. SOON...PROBABLY TOO SOON...WE GO ON WITH LIFE... WE WILL THINK ABOUT THEM LESS FREQUENTLY AS THEY WOULD WANT... I KNOW DOLLY WOULD NOT HAVE WANTED TO SEE ME ON MY FACE ON THE FLOOR IN TEARS FOR HOURS AT A TIME MISSING HER SO VERY MUCH. I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO SAY...BUT THAT I LOVED JOHN. WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME TOGETHER IN ROMANIA, WHEN HE CAME WITH PASTOR PETE. HE LOVED ME AND MY ROMA PEOPLE AND HE LOVED MISSIONARIES. WE WILL MISS HIM. Jon, I can't express enough how much you meant to me. I am still in shock from the news. I know you are finally home and reunited with so many loved ones! You will truly be missed by so many! I have so many memories with you and I will cherish those for years to come! You were an amazing role model for me to follow and I strive to live a life like yours! I am so blessed to have been able to serve with you in character builders for all those years, and I am so grateful for you taking the time to complete the biblical discipleship course with me, you taught me so much through the years. I will miss you so much and I wish I could be there at the funeral!

I have so many fond memories of Jon. Whether it was working along side him in character builders or fixing something together at the church, so much so that he got me saying "scrap"  just the way he would say it. One of the best times I had with Jon was a trip to the Ivory coast, he thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate, even if it looked back at us! He will truly be missed, I enjoyed each moment with him. My thoughts and prayers are with Lauri and Makenzie and the Plum family during this time.

Mr.plum was the first person to come to my house when I moved up here to cleveland from West Virgina to tell me about the church. My home church in west virgina told him about me and that I was looking for a church up here in Cleveland to go to. I still remember his smile coming up that driveway to this day. I can't believe hes gone but we will see him again soon. You are even more on the winning side... Love you brother rest easy. ❤

Bro. Jon was such a blessing to both me and my wife in our time serving together in the Sunday School Ministry. Jon had a heart for people and a faith that was unwavering.  So many teens were exposed to the Gospel because of the life he lived whether it was in The Winning Side, , the Bus Ministry, S.M.I.T.E.,  or Character Builders he did whatever he could . On a personal note he encouraged my son Steven while he was at Character Builders for those many years and also was a huge encouragement to my son Andrew while he was at Heritage Christian School.  He also drove the bus for my daughters group at S.M.I.T.E. last summer and was a huge blessing to them all. I will miss Bro. Jon as he was an encouragement to my whole family.  He truly showed everyone he met the love of Christ and that is what I will remember him for most. My prayers to Lori and MacKenzie and to all of the family. Our prayers and hearts are with you all.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.  Words will not wipe away your tears and hugs but hold onto your memories because forever they will remain.  We are thinking of you during these difficult times.

Jon was in my Sunday School class as a 4th grader. I remember him as a boy who enjoyed laughing and goofing around. But, when it came time for the lesson he was well behaved.

We are so sorry to hear about Jonathan.   You are all in our thoughts and prayers.  Jonathan was always so friendly at the Plum Reunion.  He was always coming or going to the house down the road where Francis was.

I am so thankful for the promise that Jon is with his Savior at this very moment.  Jon's grief and sadness is no more!!! Despite knowing these wonderful things, it is a task to wrap my mind around the fact that Jon  has passed from this life to the next. I am so thankful to have visited with him two weeks ago. He was so warm and welcoming during our visit. He was quick to ask US how we were doing!!! During our visit Jon pointed toward the  mantel above the fireplace, and spoke of his appreciation for the United States Marine Corp plaque, that he received from hospice. He was proud of it and certainly should be. I always thought of him as a valiant man, just like a United States marine would be.  As we left to go home that evening, he said, "come back anytime!" He showed me his journal that he's had since being stationed Okinawa. He said he would write his thoughts in it during that time and was journaling his thoughts (mainly to the Lord) now. I felt such heaviness for him. I remember Jon demonstrating how to throw a grenade once! I remember him best for his ministry in The Winning Side. His preaching captivating and motivating and thankful I was able to communicate that to him. My heart is so burdened for Jon's wife, daughter, mother, siblings and extended family. My prayers "feel" so small as their grief is, no doubt, so heavy.  As I drove to work this morning, the song "Home" by Chris Tomlin came over the radio. The tears for his family rolled down my face. It is truly a celebratory reminder of the FACT that Jon is home. It is THAT, that I will try to focus on when I remember him as I pray for his family now. Lord, PLEASE, help Lauri, Kenzie, Connie, and others to not only know you are with them but to FEEL your presence in a supernatural way. Guide in every single detailed decision that must be made, Help them cope with daily tasks and help them sleep so their bodies and minds can be renewed each day.  

Like so many others, we remember Jon’s infectious smile and his jokes. We also remember Jon as a faithful man of God. He always  showed an interest in our ministry in Ashtabula-often sharing a desire to come be with us. Well, Jon, it is us who will get to come and be with you. We will continue to pray daily for your sweet wife and daughter. 🌹

Mr. Plum was my first boss and has always been the standard for what I look for in a boss. Someone who works hard, can connect with his employees, and can get work done.

He was also a fantastic role model of a Christian man. He was a loving father and husband, a kind soul, and an unshakable faith in Jesus.

I look forward to seeing him again in eternity.

We are praying for Lauri, McKenzie and the rest of the family. So sorry for Jon’s passing and though a sorrowful time, we are glad to know his suffering is over and that he is with His Savior and waiting for us.

Jon was always so kind to us. We volunteered briefly in the kitchen at HCS where our son attended for his senior year. Jon would always smile and made us feel so welcome. He even selected our son to work with him in maintenance. We could tell that Jon wasn’t just our son’s “boss,” but that Jon too invested in our son’s life, helping & encouraging him.

Jon, for me Paul Arida, was one of those guys I liked instantly. I felt like a brother to him and he to me at all times and very comfortable. From time to time he's helped me out when in need of things at the church. As a fellow servicemen there was a bond that comes with serving our country. Knowing that he is now with the Lord is a joy to my heart and we have to trust the Lord till He calls us home. God is good all the time.

I remember his joking and smiling. A very kind man.

We will always remember Jon for his kind smile and the way he truly included everyone in conversation during our linx family get togethers. He will be so missed and we are so sorry to hear of his passing. Lauri and Makenzie, our prayers are with you and we are sending you strength and comfort during such a difficult time.

Jon invested in others! Whether it was the Winning Side, bus route or his work crew at HCS, Jon never stopped challenging and encouraging others. Sometimes he used humor and other times he was more direct but either way, anyone who knew Jon, knew he loved them and he loved God! Blessed to be his friend!

Wow, I can't believe you're gone. It's been a few years since I've seen you, but even when I saw you at Pastor Hine's funeral, you were as welcoming to my husband and I as you always were at the church. You are one that I will truly miss from CBC.

To the family: My thoughts and prayers are with you. Take this time to remember all of the good times you have shared. He loved you all so very much.

None of us "Linxes" will ever forget when Jon "stole" golf balls from AJ at age 3 during our White Elephant game!  Jon will be missed so much but we rejoice that he is with our Lord and Savior!  May God comfort Lauri, Makenzie,  and all the Plum family members during this difficult time.

Last Saturday,  as weak as Jon was he raised his arm up to the Lord,
Pastor Jack led us in  a Christian Hymn not once did Jon lower his arm plus sung the whole hymn. Perhaps that was the miracle God sent. I was overcome with joy. 

My most memorable moments are when he was in charge of the horseshoe pitching contests at our reunion.
