Donald Edward Bennett, born on April 24, 1934, in Paden City, West Virginia, was the beloved son of Susie Cobb. He grew up in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, and later made his home in Cleveland,
Ohio, where he built a beautiful life with his family. Donald married Katherine Melton, the love of his life, and together they shared over 60 wonderful years of marriage.
Donald had a zest for life that was evident in his many passions, including cooking, camping, and traveling. He cherished family gatherings and enjoyed watching cowboy movies and wrestling. A sports enthusiast, Donald loved playing golf and tennis, and he was an avid fan of baseball, football, and basketball. Known for his kindness, positivity, and generosity, Donald was a steadfast support to all who knew him.
A proud veteran, Donald served honorably in the United States Army. He was also a long-time member of East Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he formed many lasting friendships. Donald is survived by his devoted wife Katherine; his children Myron, Carla, and Dawn; his grandchildren McKenzie, Nia, and
Miguel; his great-grandchildren Eve, Cole, and Jasmine; his sisters Synobia Houser (Thomas-deceased) and Jacqueline; sister-in-laws Dorothy, Viola (Kenneth), and Delores (Donald); and a host of nieces, nephews, additional family, friends, and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his mother Susie, his siblings Pearl, Robert, Marlene, and Terrance, and his daughter Myla.
Donald’s presence was a gift, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a pillar of strength and wisdom, always offering guidance and love. Donald’s legacy of love and dedication will continue to inspire everyone who knew him.
Rest in peace, Donald. Your memory will live on in our hearts forever.
