Denise Marie Calhoun Cole entered this life on April 8, 1958, the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Quindora C. Calhoun in Charleston, West Virginia.
Denise received Christ at an early age. She was raised in Cleveland, Ohio and attended Cleveland Public Schools. She was a 1976 graduate of East Technical High School and also completed Vogue Beauty Academy.
She was a hard worker and always maintained 2 jobs at a time, starting at Poly-Clinic, then moving on to St. Vincent Charity Hospital and finally working at Cleveland Clinic for many years, where she retired, before relocating to Norfolk, VA. She worked on the Naval Base and San Terra Medical Center.
Denise was the second of five siblings. She was very lively and rambunctious and had a style of her own. She was the mother of three beautiful children: LaKeesha, Luther and Demetrius Cole. In 1995 she was united in Holy Matrimony to Luther Cole.
Denise was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Quindora Calhoun; sister, Vanessa and brother, Ronald Denise. Denise departed this life on October 24, 2023 in Suffolk, Virginia.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children, LaKeesha, Luther and Demetrius Cole; siblings: Andree (Otha) and Anthony (Gwen); a bonus sister, Kim Rose; seven grandchildren: Beyonce, Deshya, Destiny, Demetrius Jr., Anthony, Elijah and Noah; two great-grandchildren: Athena and Amaiah Calhoun, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A visitation for Denise will be held Friday, November 10, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cummings & Davis Funeral Home, 13201 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44112. A wake will occur Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM, 13201 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44112. A funeral service will occur Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 2:30 PM, 13201 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44112. An interment private will occur.
