Carolyn E Thompson

CAROLYN ELIZABETH THOMPSON departed this life on January 9th 2024. She was born July 18, 1944 to the union of William Richard Thompson and Emma Evergreen Welch in Cleveland Ohio (Both preceded in death). Mother of Richard Darryl Thompson, grandmother of Rickita Marie Johnson, Kenneth Britman and Terrance Darrion Thompson (preceded in death)

Carolyn accepted Christ at an early age and was a life long member of Lane Metropolitan CME Church, serving on many clerks and boards. She was a faithful member of Lane’s Missionary Society, serving eight years as its president. She was a graduate of John Hay High School, she attended Cuyahoga County College and Sawyer Business College. She was employed 32 years with the State of Ohio as a Social Worker. In addition, she was employed 12 years with Starting Point Early Childhood Option as a Technical Advisor.

Carolyn loved spending time with her family and friends and opening her home for family dinners, cookouts and parties. Attending the National Family Reunions was a strong tradition of hers.

Preceded her in death are five brothers, one step-sister, two sisters in laws and three brothers in laws. William Alvin Rucker (Odel-Deceased), Kenneth Rucker (Ollie- Deceased) Thomas Franklin, Donald Rucker, Ronald Rucker and Eileen Dinkins.

Carolyn leaves in God’s Care, her son, Richard Thompson, Granddaughter, Rickita Thompson-Johnson and Grandson, Kenneth Britman. Siblings, Connie Reid (Willie – Deceased), Louis Thompson (Brenda), John Rucker (Alisha), Kathryn Saunders (Julius), Billie Morgan (Robert-Deceased), Emma Smith (Dwayne – Deceased), Stephanie Farris (Raphael- Deceased), Sister n Law, Cheryl Jefferson, Special Friend, Grady Thomas. Two Aunts, Helen Turner Thompson and Irene Watts, One Uncle, James Harris, Special Cousin Edger Bootsie Goldsby and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A visitation for Carolyn will be held Friday, February 16, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cummings & Davis Funeral Home, 13201 Euclid Avenue, East Cleveland, Ohio 44112. A wake will occur Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM, 13201 Euclid Avenue, East Cleveland, Ohio 44112. A funeral service will occur Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 10:30 AM, 13201 Euclid Avenue, East Cleveland, Ohio 44112. The internment is private.
