Thelma Sumers

Early Thursday, January 23, we lost our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and great aunt. Thelma (Terri) Sumers (nee Beckerman) passed peacefully of natural causes.  She was blessed with 93 glorious years.  Terri was married 28 years to the love of her life, Mike, but was devoted to him for the remainder of her life. Terri was an active and enthusiastic member of the Democratic Party and an avid supporter of Hillary.  Terri contributed to the Workman’s Circle, a progressive political organization that has made a difference since 1920.  Teri was a wonderful role model of a loving, selfless mother.  Her intensity for her family’s welfare was her highest priority. Terri is survived by her brother Bernie (Blanche) Beckerman, her son Craig Sumers, daughter Edrea (Bruce) Lazerick, grandchildren Jordan, Jonathan (Jesse) Sumers, Courtney (Jeremy) Zelwin, Justin and Michael Lazerick and great grandchildren Cailey, Cole and Grant.  She was predeceased by her sister Sallie Halpern. Services will be held Sunday at 12:30pm at BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL 1985 S. Taylor Rd. Cleveland Heights, OH. Interment Mount Olive Cemetery.  The family will receive visitors immediately following services Sunday until 9pm, and Monday 12-5 and 7-9pm at 3960 Beechmont Trail, Orange, OH.  Friends who wish may contribute to the Hospice of the Western Reserve 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44110.
