Sincere condolences to the family. Dr. Kiwi supported me through my triplet pregnancy. His calm demeanor and encouragement at my weekly appointments helped me throughout my difficult pregnancy. The practice had just moved to the Cleveland Clinic and his reputation preceded him. His unique purse string cerclage helped me carry til 35+ weeks. My first Mother’s Day, days after delivery, he came to Hillcrest to check in and wish me a Happy Mother’s Day! I am forever grateful and think of him often as I reflect on 24 years of motherhood.

My heartfelt condolences to the family. I met this good doctor in Namibia and they had a bad accident and he lost his friend.  I was the one that attended to the accident first. May he rest easy.

Robert Kiwi was such a lovely gentleman. I am proudgrateful, and happy to have worked with him. He is unforgettable.

I’m so sad to just hear this news today. I truly loved Dr. Kiwi. He was the BEST of the BEST. He brought two of my children into this world, safely. He was so kind and gentle, spent quality time with you. I have thought about him over the years since his retirement and always prayed he was well in this world. Now I know he’s even better than well where this lovely man is now. So very sorry to his wife, children, grandchildren and all who knew him. He was the greatest!!! One of a kind😢💔💔

Dr. Kiwi was more than just a doctor to me—he was a source of hope and compassion during one of the hardest times in my life.  I met him after experiencing a heartbreaking loss and not knowing if I’d ever be a mother. He comforted me with his kindness and assured me we would navigate this journey together. Thanks to his care, I was blessed with three beautiful children. His empathy, expertise, and support meant the world to me. I will forever be grateful for the role he played in my life. He was truly the best in his field and will be deeply missed.

Bobby Kiwi and I go back almost 6 decades. My former Resident when I was on the faculty at the University of Cape Town, he contacted me in Cleveland from London in 1977. I arranged a Perinatal Fellowship for him at UH, he and Merle took over our original rental in Cleveland Heights, and the rest is history. Bobby moved with me from UH to Mt Sinai, back to UH, and then to the Cleveland Clinic. Always modest and understated,  he was not only an outstanding perinatologist but a genuine renaissance man.  We were partners in practice for over 3 decades. Never, ever, did we have one word of anger between us, just complete mutual respect. Bobby has been one of my closest, true, and loyal friends, and I cannot imagine life without him, our regular get togethers, discussing everything. My last calls with him these past few days have been poignant, direct, loving and emotional. I asked him to keep a place next to him for me. We could go into practice together again. Bob and Merle became my dearest friends in Cleveland: I relied on Bob’s calm demeanor, wise and expert medical advice and Merle’s unwavering and continuing support. We were South Africans, all adjusting to American life. We understood each other, intuitively, and bonded in our shared background.
I have always been so appreciative of Merle and Bob’s interest and encouragement for my art and design.
Bob was a wonderful doctor and he was also a creative artist and glass blower. We spoke the same language and I loved his passion and delight in his print collection.
The dazzling and delicate image (above) of Bob’s paperweight speaks volumes to his talent. I will always treasure this gift from him and the memory of all the special times we spent together.  May his light continue to shine.

I am so very sorry to hear about your husband and father.  Dr. Kiwi was my ob/gyn and was there for the birth of both of my sons.  For both, he had just gotten back to town and came right to the hospital from the airport.  

I loved him.  He was such a kind man.  I always thought the button he wore on his lab coat, looked like him:) 

The world has lost a good one.
