I will always keep Lindys memory in my heart. She will forever be my SDT sister and member of the Divine 9.

I recall meeting  Lindy at MOCA many years ago. Her warmth and energy filled the space, immediately embracing me. Every time Lindy and I met we had conversations about art that were sensitive and very perceptive. Lindy’s curiosity and wisdom will always be remembered. May you Rest In Peace Lindy. Lindy will always live in my heart and mind. Her vibrancy and love is eternal. 
I remember the first time I met Lindy at the James Brown Invitational in 1977, and though she was one of the prettiest girls I'd ever met.  I remember the hours she spent holding our infant son David in Chautauqua.  I remember the excitement we shared together when we found our "dream" homes in 1983. I remember the wedding celebration of Jayne and Steve Lewin in your exquisite home and the multitude of times we shared both  joy and pain.  I remember her wisdom, grace, style, character and zest for life  I remember her  laugh, her smile, her voice, her beauty,  her resiliency,   her giving spirit . But most of all I remember her love. I consider it a great blessing to have known Lindy Barnett.   


Richard Thank you so much for the loving care you took of our Sister and the willingness to share her when the Divine 9 traveled.  Together you made a magnificent life for you and the entire family. You  created a home filled with the beauty of art and the reflections of your souls.
 The Divine 9 will forever miss her love, joy, inclusiveness and generosity but we take with us the memory of her and the gift of having known her.

Dear Richard,

I did not have the pleasure of meeting Lindy, but I met you and I could see in your eyes, by the way you talked about her, she was one of a kind. I know your love will always continue, even though you are parted. 

Words fall short of expressing my sorrow and can’t even imagine how you and your family are going through right now, but please know that my prayers are with all of you.

You and your family are in my thoughts as you grieve this loss. All my love.


I figured she would be here forever. Since the day I met her in 1966 she lighted up a room. She was creative, actually quirky with her art and clothing (even in the 1960s her style stood out) her sense of humor and view of the world. She always had a laugh in her eyes and on the tip of her tongue, so sure of herself. She married Richard and I stood up for her. She blossomed in Shaker Heights, never losing her taste or joie de vie.  She had the joy of having three sons, with hardship along the way, ending with beautiful daughters-in-law and happy grandchildren. She and Richard created a life together, building on her creativity by assembling a world class contemporary art collection and sharing it with all. She gave me the gift of a friendship with her younger brother Scott, who became one of my closest friends here in Los Angeles, her creative, crazy brother Scott whom I loved dearly as well. She was my family. How can I even address the loss of her in my life except that she should know she made it better. Rest in peace dear friend – I will miss you terribly.

My heart is breaking for you and your family.  You have all experienced way too much sadness. Somehow, Lindy always managed to push thru and continue to live life.  She was beyond special and I so loved to be around her. She handled her illness with amazing grace and I was in awe of her. Sending love.

Both my brother Richard Silver and I were friendly with you when we were growing up. I never had the pleasure of knowing Lindy very well but on the few occasions that I  with her she was quite delightful. Please accept my deepest condolences for you and your family and I hope your sunny memories of Lindy will brighten your days.

I don't know that I've ever met anyone with a brighter spirit than Lindy.   I can't remember a time that she wasn't cheerful, smiling, optimistic, warm and welcoming to me and everyone she came in contact with.  Her personality felt like a big hug personified.  

I feel lucky that I got to spend time with her over the years as I grew up just down the street.  I will always think fondly of Lindy, and I know that her memory & legacy will live on forever.  

My sincere condolences to Richard, Todd, Brandon and their families.  Thank you for sharing Lindy with all of us.  She made our lives happier, brighter and much more fun!

Lindy and I taught school together and we had so much fun.  She was a wonderful friend and I will really miss her.  
Richard and I sort of grew up together in different worlds,  as young children do, as parents dictate what and where, but I had the good fortune of meeting him when I was young.  

Our hearts are broken.  Her happiness and laughter is our memory.

Lindsey was a very upbeat person who always was interested in you and what you had to say. She never dwelled on herself and always had a smile on her face. I am so sorry for your loss Richard.

Lindy was a wonderful friend of mine. One of my first friends when we moved to Cleveland. We shared many things over the years . I will always cherish the friendship we had.
