I have known Rick for not even five years, since he moved in across the street.  Me not being the type to go out of my way to make new friends didn't seem to bother Rick at all, and soon I was invited over to watch the Browns and share some of his famous pulled pork. The next week I made a pot of chili, and as our wives Lorie and Meg became BFFs, we shared many a meal since. When Rick threw a party, the entire block was invited! Truly one of most easy-going and all-around good guys-- and as sad as I am right now, the gratitude I feel for having had Rick in my life is even greater.  Thank you for the good times, friend!

I was on the interview team at Progressive when Rick was hired and he always said he’d never laughed more in an interview. It was the same for me on my side of the table, and our laughs continued for many years after that. We were fast friends. Rick was a man with a big, caring heart and he shared it freely. He loved Lorie and Sam fiercely, and he always kept me updated on what was going on in their lives. He was THE proudest dad.

Ricky and I were crib-mates when we were first born. We reconnected in high school but lost touch since then. I am so sorry for your loss, Karen and Avery.

When I started at Progressive and saw Rick’s cubicle filled with Star Wars stuff, I knew he was someone I’d get along with. He was immediately friendly and generous, and I always appreciated his humor. He will be greatly missed. My heartfelt condolences to his family and his many many friends.

Rick was one of those people who just effortlessly befriended everyone he met, often within minutes of introduction. As a fellow 'grown-up kid,' Rick was one of the first people who made me feel that, yeah, it's OK to be in your mid-40s and still be as much of a Star Wars geek as you were when you were 10. The Force will be with you Rick, always ...

Devastating news to hear. Rick was a great guy… I worked with him at Progressive. He was so cheerful and collaborative and enthusiastic. I don’t think anyone disliked him. He always spoke of his daughter and how proud he was of her. Kevin and Cathy, I’m so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family. I wish you strength and rest during this time.

I have fond memories of Rick from when we were at Brush High together and on the track team. He was such a genuinely nice guy. He'll be missed.  My condolences to his family.

Heartbroken to hear this news. Rick was truly the biggest goof and always making everyone laugh on the marking floor at Progressive. He was such a good guy and always had a smile on his face. I’m still in shock over the news of Rick’s passing. He was a talented colleague (at Progressive), sometimes a “big kid,” and a very good man. There were many times he put a smile on my face. Rest in peace, Rick.

It was a privilege knowing and working with Rick.  He was the nicest person and always greeted you with a smile.   He always remembered your name.   My thought and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Rick, was an amazing friend and colleague during our time together at Progressive. Rick was that rare combination of heart and head. I always knew that when Rick was working on something, it would be perfect. Rick welcomed me to Progressive and to Cleveland and he always shared great places to dine. I always loved our NY and Cleveland discussions (arguments) regarding our beloved sports teams. He is already missed. My thoughts and prayers to the family and here if anyone needs anything.

Lorie and Samantha-We are so deeply saddened to hear of Rick’s passing. He was genuinely one of the nicest people we’ve ever known.  Always smiling is how we will remember him.  

You both, along with Rick’s family, will be held in our prayers.

Rick was a friend and a mentor. He was incredibly patient and generous with his time and attention—a joyous spirit that always made everyone he encountered better for knowing him. I’ll miss you, sir.

Rick was the best!  I loved our chats about family and the Browns. 🏈 I loved working with him. He always had a positive outlook and made everyone look good by working his video and PowerPoint magic!  I will miss him dearly.

Rick never left a room darker than when he entered it. He will be thoroughly missed. He was just an excellent person to be around.
