Elaine "Pat" Singer passed away on November 7th. Never one to adhere to protocol, she treated all around her as family and we are forever thankful to this extended family of Mary, Diane, Pat, Cyndi along with her sons Josh and Ricky, and the many others who moved mountains to bring Pat home to her precious cats, and provided her so much comfort. Pat Singer was born on St. Patrick's Day in 1927. She began her career as a radio host, honing the skills that would continue to serve her throughout her life. Next, she returned to school for a teaching degree and built a classroom where her creative energy and passion formed the perfect mix of controlled chaos. There isn't a student who passed through Mrs. Singer's classroom unchanged. Her room buzzed with energy, and at any moment she might be directing her students in a theater production, marching them door to door to sign up voters, or exploring new research to help students become better readers. Mrs. Singer was far ahead of the times, individualizing instruction and orchestrating real world experiences to educate and engage students well before books were written extolling these virtues. She believed so strongly in each and every student, that one simply didn't dare to disappoint. Many future educators and community leaders emerged from Mrs. Singer's spirited classroom. After retiring from education, Pat put her considerable energy into building up her community of friends, fundraising to keep up the Bonneville pool afloat, and celebrating all who lived around her. Pat Singer was preceded in death by her beloved husband Stuart Singer and her nephew Jeff Wattenmaker and her late sister Judith Wachs. She is survived by her sister in law Beverly Wattenmaker, her nieces Karen and Pamela and her four grandchildren, Owen, Gwen, Mimi and Li.
The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, November 11 from 3 PM-6 PM at Bonneville Tower, 25801 Lake Shore Blvd. Euclid, OH. (Top Floor Reception Room).
