

After attending Cleveland Heights High School, he received a full scholarship from the Ford Foundation to Oberlin College before obtaining his law degree from the University of Michigan, where he became a lifelong Wolverine fan.
Don was a devoted husband to Sharon, a loving father to Neil (Lisa) and Sheila Margolis (Kevin), and a doting grandfather to Samantha Hernandez (David), Brian Margolis (Leah), Andrew, Kaitlyn Wilson (Thomas), and Emily. His family meant everything to him. He dedicated his life to nurturing and supporting them with unconditional love and encouragement.
During his legal career, Don became recognized as a national expert on franchise law. An avid photographer and active member of The Chagrin Valley Camera Club, he had a passion for capturing the beauty of everyday moments that he shared with friends and family, leaving behind a visual legacy that will be treasured.
Don was devoted to the mission of the Jewish Children’s Foster Homes and later, Bellefaire JCB. He served in multiple leadership roles in the organizations and remained active throughout his life. His commitment to philanthropy was a testament to his character and compassion.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, April 11 at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel at 1985 S. Taylor Road in Cleveland Heights.

Family will receive friends at the residence of Sheila and Kevin Margolis, 4525 Monet Place in Pepper Pike, OH following services until 8pm, Sunday from 6pm to 9pm and Monday from 1pm to 4:30pm and 6pm to 9pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Bellefaire JCB (bellefairejcb.org) or the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center in support of Experimental Hematology and Hematopoiesis research, for which gifts can be sent to Cleveland Clinic Foundation, P.O.
