Dennis B. Brooks MD

Dr. Dennis Brooks (87 years old) passed away on December 15, 2024. He was surrounded by his loved ones, who included his wife Laura Crider Brooks, and his daughters, Lauri Pantos, Jennifer (Charles-deceased) Rowe and Alison Schley. Dr. Brooks was the son of Louis Brooks and Mae Margolin Brooks. He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Barbara Klivans Books and son in law, Charles Rowe. He is survived by his brother Jeffrey Brooks (Ellen Brooks), his grandchildren, Alexandra Pantos, Stephanie Pantos, Nick Pantos, Megan Schley and Zach Schley and many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grand nephews. The Brooks family wishes to express deep appreciation to Dennis caregiver, Sara, for her support and caring.

Dr. Brooks was born and raised in Shaker Heights Ohio, attended Harvard and West Reserve Medical Center. His medical training included Residencies at Mt Sinai and Children’s Hospital of Indianapolis. He began his medical career in the military, serving as an Air Force Base Orthopedic Surgeon from 1969-1971. He then went on to practice as an Orthopedic Surgeon at Mt. Sinai in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Brooks also attended Cleveland State for a few Law School classes, as he found the practice of Medical Legal Medicine stimulating. He was always interested in the medical education field and after retiring, Dr. Brooks worked with the Resident teaching Program at the VA Hospital.

He was an avid Browns fan and loved to travel to find hand crafted pipes. He also admired beautiful handwriting and taught himself to calligraphy. Dr. Brooks had a B’nai Mitzvah at The Temple- Tifereth Israel. He enjoyed collecting artwork that reflected his interest in his Jewish culture.

Services will be held Friday, December 20 at 2 PM at the BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL 1985 S. Taylor Rd. Cleveland Heights, Oh. 44118. Interment Mayfield Cemetery.

Family will receive friends following services and interment at CONGREGATION MISHKAN OR 26000 Shaker Blvd. Beachwood, Ohio 44122 UNTIL 6PM.
