Hanna was born in Shanghai, China and immigrated to Israel at the age of 8. She then moved to Australia and earned a BSc in Chemistry and Biochemistry. Several years later, she, her husband Morris, and young son Danny moved to the USA.
While earning her Masters in Clinical Chemistry, Hanna worked as a clinical chemist at the Cleveland Clinic. She then taught chemistry to nursing students at Case Western Reserve University, Ursuline College, and Tri-C. Before retiring, she was an editor at ASM International in Novelty, Ohio.
Hanna and her husband were world travelers, and Hanna was an avid reader and seeker of knowledge. Her passions also included music and theater, and she regularly attended performances by the Cleveland Orchestra and the Cleveland Playhouse.
Fluent in Hebrew, Hanna enjoyed participating in a Hebrew book club and regularly attended the annual Cleveland Jewish Film Festival. She was a long time member of the Museum of Art, the Museum of Natural History, and the Botanical Gardens.
Hanna was the devoted wife of Morris, mother of Danny (deceased) and Karen (Bruce) Phillips, and loving grandmother of Mark and Robbie; sister of Dolly and Eva, and cousin of Shaul and Chaim in Israel, and sister-in-law of David (Rosemary) Burke in Australia.
Funeral services will be held at BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1985 S TAYLOR RD., CLEVELAND HTS on Thursday, December 12 at 1 PM.
Interment Mt. Olive Cemetery, 27855 Aurora Rd, Solon, OH 44139.
The family will receive friends THURSDAY FOLLOWING BURIAL UNTIL 8 PM at the residence of Karen and Bruce Phillips, 34420 Appleview Way, Solon, OH 44139.
