William Hartman Holladay was born in DeLand, FL June 6,1932 to John and Olivia Holladay. He was known by his family growing up as Hartman. At age 13 he began his lifelong trade as a meat cutter at a local grocery store.
He proudly served in the Navy from 1951-1955. He was aboard the aircraft carrier “The Essex” during the Korean War and he served on the flight deck.
In December 1955 he met Priscilla Geraldine Lott. They met as Bill and Gerri, dated and wed March 10, 1956. They began their adventures in Jacksonville, FL and moved to Alaska in 1957. After returning to Florida three years later, they began to start a family.
It wasn’t until 10 years after moving to NC that Bill Holladay was introduced to Piedmont Bible College as the Food Service Manager. It was here that he was blessed to serve many students and faculty that have since moved to become missionaries, preachers and teachers. And many have gone on before him to meet Jesus. He was involved in his church serving as deacon, singing in the choir and solos, and directing music over the years.
His career of being a meat cutter provided many opportunities from grocery meat department manager to restaurant specialties to catering many events.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Gerri Holladay; 4 children Kenneth Holladay, Karen Fountaine(Greg), Kim Rowland(James), Keith Holladay(Jennifer) and 8 grandchildren.
