Van was born in Port Arthur, Texas on May 5, 1959, to Lowell and Joye Dalton. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Lamar University in 1983. Van was also a member of the Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society. He founded Pump Systems, Inc. in 1999, the greatest pump sales, service, and installation business the world has ever seen. As a proud business owner, Van developed life-long relationships with his customers and colleagues. He lived the majority of his life in North Carolina and remained close to his Texan roots.
He was an avid golfer who loved playing alongside his family and friends. According to Van, he was never once at fault for any of his poor golf shots. He enjoyed traveling the world, playing soccer, cooking his famous spaghetti sauce, betting it all on Final Jeopardy, playing the harmonica and guitar, and confidently singing off-key. Van was a life-long Dallas Cowboys fan and a fantasy football fanatic.
Van loved telling the same long-winded stories about his family to anyone within earshot. He would brighten the room with his infectious laughter and wide smile as if he was telling them for the first time. Van’s greatest achievement was being a loving husband and proud dad.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle “Cheng” Dalton; two children, Corey (Morgan) Dalton and Samantha Dalton; his parents, Lowell and Joye Dalton; and three siblings, Lad Dalton, Laurie Dalton Speaker, and Brian Dalton.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM on Saturday December 31 at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home in Clemmons. The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM prior to the service. Interment to follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory.
