Mrs. Harmon was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, where she was an active member until a period of declining health.
She was a member and a past president of Old Town Woman's Club.
Mrs. Harmon, along with her husband Forrest, grew Christmas trees and she became known as the "Christmas Tree Lady."
She and her husband were the proud business owners of Harmon Tours and traveled the world for over 40 years.
Mrs. Harmon was a devoted wife, loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest H. Harmon; and brother, Keith Jurney.
Those left to cherish her memory include daughters, Sandra Hau (Michael) of California, Deborah Walkup (Michael) of Kernersville, and Jane Harmon (David Wright) of Asheville; cherished "children," Pam Wood Sidbury (Franky) and Eddie Wood; sisters, Claudene Donovan (David), Gretna Feimster (Jimmy), and Peggy Harrison; grandchildren, Patrick Hau, Lane Walkup, Caroline Walkup, Roderick Harmon, Pierce Harmon, Clayton Wilson, Steven Williams, and Leslie Schatz; sisters-in-law, Aileen Daniels, Frances Whitley (Bob), Dorothy Harmon; brother-in-law, Dwight Harmon; and beloved nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2011, 3:00 p.m., at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.
The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the funeral service, in the fellowship hall.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
