Sharon Lynne Gibson, aged 64, has gone to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Sharon was born Nov. 23, 1952 in Columbus, Georgia, Fort Benning U.S. Army Base to Bob G. Gibson and Dorothy W. Gibson, and died on May 20, 2017 at Trinity Glen Skilled Nursing, The Lutheran Home. Sharon grew up in Raleigh, NC, graduating from Jessie O. Sanderson High School in the class of 1971. She attended UNC-Greensboro, graduating in 1975 with a major in History and a minor in English and was certified to teach Junior High and High School students. Upon graduating from UNC-G Sharon went to work for the Wake County Public School System. Sharon moved to Winston-Salem in 2000 and helped in marketing the family businesses. After being saved as a child, Sharon believed that a Christian’s one true calling is to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. She never missed an opportunity to share her witness with friends, family, and acquaintances and to offer them the opportunity to share in eternal salvation and a victorious life through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. When Sharon moved to Winston-Salem, she transferred her church membership from Ridge Road Baptist Church to Maple Springs United Methodist Church. Sharon was always vivacious, out-going, and full-of-life. She was preceded in death by her father, Bob G. Gibson. Sharon is survived by her mother, Dorothy Gibson of Winston-Salem, brother, Mike Gibson (wife Martha, children, Jonathan and David) of Bessemer City, NC, and sister Theresa Gibson of Winston-Salem. The family would like to thank all of the staff at both Trinity Glen Lutheran Home and Hospice of Winston-Salem for their loving and compassionate care. A funeral service will be held on May 24, 2017, at 3:00PM at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home, 2951 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106. The Family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be sent to Maple Springs UMC, 2569 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106; Trinity Glen Lutheran Home, 849 Waterworks Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27101-1956, and Hospice and Palliative Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
