Ruth Jeanette Vanhoy Myers, age 84, of Pfafftown, NC passed away on January 21, 2016 after several years of declining health. She was born on January 4, 1932 to Willie Parks (1903 – 1976) and Bessie Ireland (1904 – 1995). Ruth is survived by one son, Michael David Myers and wife, Celeste of Monroe, NC and one daughter, Linda Yvonne Myers Whitlock and husband, David of Germanton, NC. Along with four grandchildren that she dearly loved, Weston and Emma Whitlock and Jacob and Georgia Rose Myers.
Ruth was born in Yadkin County and raised in the small community of Hamptonville. She went to work for RJ Reynolds at a young age and shortly after, met her husband, George, of 59 years until his passing. Together they traveled and lived in various states from coast to coast and overseas in Germany. She was a dedicated animal lover, always worrying about her “back-yard” wildlife. Above all, she loved spending time with family and friends and was the ultimate caregiver of others.
Ruth was preceded in death by siblings, Hobert Vanhoy, Hubert Vanhoy, Robert Vanhoy and Georgia Vanhoy. She is survived by her only living sister, Bessie Vanhoy Price (Salisbury) and three brothers, Bill Vanhoy (Yadkinville) Johnny Vanhoy (Lewisville) and Thomas Vanhoy (Harmony).
Visitation will be held at Vogler & Sons Funeral Home, Reynolda Road on Monday, January 25th at 6:00 PM. Services will be held Tuesday, January 26th at 2:00 at Pfafftown Christian Church with graveside afterwards at Forsyth Memorial Park on Yadkinville Rd. The Rev. Lori Carter of Pfafftown Christian Church will officiate along with special guest, Rev. Bob Parvin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Senior Services, Meals on Wheels Program, of Forsyth County.
