Ruby Mae Shouns Beshears passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Arbor Acres surrounded by her family. She was born July 14, 1925 to Isaac Finley Shoun and Arleva Rebecca Griffin in Wilkes County. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Aren Baxter Beshears. She was also preceded in death by eight step-brothers and step-sisters, Noble Shoun, Dewie Landreth, Lester Shoun, Corbia Shoun, Maggie Angley, Albert Shoun, Brock Griffin, Faye Dowler. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, Lola Tolley, Michard Shoun, Pearl Shoun, Issac Shoun, Lloyd Shoun, Grace McAbee, and Walter Shoun. Ruby is survived by her sister Virgie Mair of Myrtle Beach, SC, and her daughters, Elaine Land of Winston-Salem and Gina Ramsey of Summerville, SC, and her son, Brent Beshears of Winston-Salem. She is survived by five grandchildren Sally Lewis-Hodges and Emmy Lewis of Winston-Salem, Jason Ramsey and Leslie Langit (Justin) of Summerville, SC, and Cheyenne Beshears of Charlotte, NC. She has two great grandchildren, Chloe and Tommy Langit of Summerville, SC.
Ruby was a charter member of Westside Baptist Church. Ruby was a small business owner for 41 years of Pennyrich Bras and Lingerie. She will be remembered as a loving and gracious wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She lived from October 2011 until June 2018 in assisted living at Heritage Woods. Ruby was placed under the care of Trellis Supportive Care in May 2018 after a series of serious injuries due to multiple falls at Heritage Woods and a diagnosis of Lewy Body dementia. On June 25, 2018, Ruby was moved to skilled nursing at Arbor Acres Fitzgerald Center. At Arbor Acres, she was surrounded constantly by loving caregivers. A visitation will be held Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 12:00pm followed by the funeral at 1:00pm at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home in Clemmons. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memories. After the burial, there will be a reception at West Side Baptist Church.
