Robert Milton Smart Sr.

Robert Milton Smart, Sr. passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born in Fairview, NC a son, to the late Houston Smart and Mollie Elizabeth Harris Smart. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Smart and a sister, Lovata Simithsi. Robert was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church and served as a usher, deacon, and served on the Board of Deacons. He was employed and retired from Dunnagan and Rideout Heating and Air Company. Robert was a US Army veteran and served during WWII. He was a participant of the Flight of Honor. He enjoyed gardening, was a Jack of all trades, and a dedicated provider to his family. He was the greatest Dad ever and gave selflessly.

Robert is survived by three children, Wanda Smart of the home, Robert “RM” Smart, Jr. and his wife, Cynthia of Winston-Salem, and Mollie Smart of Winston-Salem; a sister Mamie Sue Harkins of Fairview, NC; two grandchildren, Joy Hinson and Steven Hinson and two great grandchildren, Chelsea Hinson and Caleb Thompson.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 27th, in the Chapel of Frank Vogler and Sons Funeral Home in Clemmons with Rev. Jim Bush officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons with Military honors. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM, Wednesday, March 26th at the funeral home.
