Robert Eugene Raab

Bob leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Sondra Newkirk Raab; daughters, Julie Ann Raab and Kimberly Frances Raab; grandsons, Griffin Robert, West Sinclair, and Jasper Race; sisters, Rosemary Cullen and Jo Ellen Bentjen; and many other friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Raab, Sr. and Mary West Raab; and brothers, Ross Raab and John Raab.

Bob was a hardworking man whose work ethic was unwavering. He was great with his hands and could fix anything. Bob spent his life working in sheet metal. He started his career working as a “tin banger” and through hard work and determination moved into estimating, designing, and ending his career as vice president. Bob was proud of his designs and the work he completed in southern California. He worked on special projects such as the Getty Museum, the Gene Autry Museum, the University of Southern California Campus, and many of the skyscrapers seen today in downtown Los Angeles. Wanting to give back to his community, Bob also volunteered for 25 years as a Reserve Captain Policeman in Alhambra, California.

He was a good provider for his family and he was always available to help out friends. There wasn’t much he couldn’t fix. If all else failed, he’d use duct tape. Bob always had words of advice for his children and grandchildren as well as everlasting love and support. He was very proud of his grandsons and enjoyed being with them.

In his spare time, Bob enjoyed remodeling homes with his wife. Through the years, they remodeled seven homes. He took this time to also teach his grandsons lessons in carpentry and handyman skills. Bob also loved his time in Big Bear, being in the mountains, fishing with his friends, relaxing at the lake, and playing cards.

Bob’s family and friends will remember him as a man of integrity with his own special sense of humor.
