Mr. Peter Jerry Balsavias, 68, of Waterford, passed away August 30, 2013, at his home in Clemmons. He was born December 18, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Nick Balsavias and Jennie Demos. Mr. Balsavias retired from The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in 2006 after 40 years of service. He later worked part-time for Maintenance Plus, Birmingham, Alabama, until July 2013.
He was a devoted husband, father, step-father, father-in-law, grandfather (Papou), brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. Surviving are his beloved wife of 34 years, Sharon L. Hunn Balsavias, of the home. He is also survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Chad) Hull, his son, Pete (Amy) Balsavias, his daughter, Cory (Chad) Derusseau, his step-son, Scott (Brenda) Stewart, and his step-son, Mark (Julie) Couch. His grandchildren are Shelby Stewart, Ashley Balsavias, Jackson Balsavias, Calli Hull, Connor Derusseau, Chloe Derusseau, Cami Hull, Aidan Balsavias, and Gus Couch. His sisters are Maria Clausen and Irene Conley. He was a brother-in-law to Glenn (Pat) Hunn, Vicki (Roger) Crump, and Rick (Karen) Chandler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Georgia Grace Couch, his mother-in-law, Allie Chandler and her husband, Richard Chandler, his father-in-law, Glennon Hunn, and his brother-in-law, Bob Clausen.
Honoring his wishes, Mr. Balsavias will be cremated. Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donors choice.
