Otha Kenneth Spainhour, 82, of Winston-Salem, died Monday, March 1st at Hospice of Winston-Salem. Mr. Spainhour was born December 17, 1927 in Forsyth County, son of the late Cornelius Alexander Spainhour and the late Metta Evans Spainhour.
He was a graduate of Hanes High School and UNC Chapel Hill. He was a Lifetime Member of UNC Chapel Hill Alumni Association.
He was in the Navy, Veteran of WWII, and the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Spainhour was a retired Certified Public Accountant and partner with McGladry & Pullen.
He was an active member of Northwest Baptist Church where he served on many committees and was an active member of the church choir for many years.
He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and NC Association of Certified Public Accountants.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Spainhour was preceded in death by a brother, Charley Cornelius Spainhour; and sisters, Josephine Spainhour Patterson and Loraine Spainhour Fearrington.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Sallie Wall Spainhour of the home; son, Gregory Alan Spainhour and wife Isabel of Charlotte; daughter, Gina Spainhour Shore and husband John of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Callie Spainhour, Zachary Spainhour, Mother Cheryl Spainhour, Romario Andrade, Riley Shore, and Sullivan Shore; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 4, 2010, 6:00-8:00 pm, at Vogler and Sons Reynolda Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 5, 2010, 1:00 pm, at Northwest Baptist Church with the Rev. Brant Hoots officiating.
Burial will be at Forsyth Memorial Park following the service.
