Marie was first and foremost a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She attended Wake Forest University and retired from Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center after more than 40 years of service. She was a member of Clemmons United Methodist Church.
Marie’s greatest pleasures were her kids and grandkids, working in her flower garden, being with family and friends, and tailgating at Wake Forest football games, which she was the life of the party.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, David S. Plyler, daughters Karla Plyler and Ginger Plyler Matthews, son John David Plyler (wife Kim), grandchildren Georgia Plyler and William Plyler, brothers Clifford King (wife Sue) and Floyd King, and sister Ollie Bridges.
Visitation, for family and friends, will be held from 2:00PM to 4:00PM on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Frank Vogler & Sons, 2849 Middlebrook Drive, Clemmons, NC. A private family service will be held after visitation.
The family would like to thank the staff at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their loving care and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
