Katherine Furches Rumley, 95, passed away on March 20, 2018 following a brief illness. She was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, and loving friend. She will be remembered for her kindness, humor, compassion, generosity, and grace.
She was born in Winston-Salem, raised in Clemmons, and lived her adult life in Winston-Salem. She was preceded in death by her husband, J Leon Rumley; her daughter, Ellen Amanda Rumley; her parents, Stephen Louis Furches and Lydia Amanda West Furches; brother, Stephen Lewis “Lou” Furches; sister, Laura Elizabeth “Libby” Dennis; and brother, George West Furches.
Katherine is survived by her siblings and their spouses, William “Bill” R and Betty L Furches of Fredericksburg, VA and James “Jim” J Furches of Winston-Salem, NC; family friend, Colleen M Furches; and 15 nephews and nieces, along with their children.
The funeral service will be held Monday, March 26th at 11am at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home, 2951 Reynolda Rd, with Pastor Phil Thrillkill officiating. The family will receive friends for a visitation at 10:30am prior to the service. There will be a reception following the service for all friends and family. Burial will take place after the reception at Stokesdale United Methodist Church Cemetery.
