Mrs. Kate Reece Hoots

Mrs. Kate Reece Hoots, 95, a resident of the Brookridge Retirement Home, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015. She was born June 12, 1920 in Yadkin County to Charles and Carrie Reece. Mrs. Hoots retired from The Forsyth Cancer Service where she served as the Executive Director. She was a dedicated member of the Northwest Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hoots was preceded in death by her husband, William Hobart Hoots, Jr. in 1993. She was also preceded in death by: her sisters, Mary Sheek, Pearl Fair, and Zola Ledwell; 3 brothers, Fred Reece, George Reece, and Oscar Reece.

She is survived by: sons, Dr. Keith Hoots (Joan) of Washington, D.C., the Rev. Brant Hoots (Kay) of Newton, NC; three grandsons: Brian Hoots (Tina) of Canton, GA, Eric Hoots (Amy) of Chapel Hill, NC, and David Hoots (Claire) of Newton, NC; two granddaughters, Brooke Hoots of Atlanta, GA, and Mary Beth Hoots of Chicago, IL. She is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren, Brady, Jackson, and Avery Hoots of Chapel Hill, NC.

The funeral will be conducted Sunday, September 27 at 4:00pm at the Northwest Baptist Church in Winston Salem by the Reverends Ellen Strickland and Linda Lewis. The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 at the church. Frank Vogler & Sons is handling the arrangements.
