Kaibah Mavai Johnson was called home ending her time with us on March 7, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center, located in Winston Salem, North Carolina. She was a business woman that managed the import and export of goods throughout several West African countries. In 1982, Kaibah was brought to the United States by her eldest daughter, Agnes Liberty Carver. As a widowed mother of six, she worked extremely hard as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for more than fifteen years to bring all of her children and grandchildren to the United States. She was a loving mother who lived her life for Jehovah and her children.
Kaibah Mavai Johnson was born on July 10, 1941 in Lofa County Liberia, West Africa to the late Madala F. Johnson and Sabah Joejoe Johnson. She was a faithful member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was very strong in her belief and every time she was asked, “How are you today”, her response would be, “I thank Jehovah”. Kaibah loved going around and speaking about Jehovah, sharing time with her family and helping people whenever she could.
Kaibah was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Taylor N. Selli, Jr.; two sons, Arthur and Andrew Coleman; three sisters, Comfort Johnson Scott, Weedor Johnson, and Joe Johnson Mulbah; three brothers, You-Kollie, Andrew, and Sigbeh Johnson.
Kaibah leaves to cherish her memories, six children, Agnes Liberty Carver (Franklin) of Clemmons, NC, Sonnie Coleman Massaquoi (John) of Baltimore, MD, Taylor N. Selli III of Fredericksburg, VA, Majoe M. Selli (Elizabeth) of Baltimore, MD, Sabah Selli Gurley (Milton) of Jacksonville, FL, and Sekou A. Selli of Winter Park, FL; eight sisters, Esther Johnson Morris, Saybah Johnson Kpamia, Cecelia Johnson Jorgbor, Saybah Johnson Jallah, Mamie Johnson, Gbolue Johnson Washington, Sabah Johnson, Domawah Johnson; eight brothers, Sigbeh Johnson, Emanuel Johnson, Francis Johnson, Kollie Johnson, You-Kollie Johnson, Saywala Johnson, Gbowah Johnson, Kolloboi Johnson, along with sixteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, four brother-in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A sincere thanks is extended to all of our friends, church members, and the Jehovah’s Witnesses family for all your prayers and well wishes. Our enduring gratitude is extended to the medical practitioners and staff at Forsyth Medical Center and Regency Care of Clemmons. May God Bless each of you.
