
YADKINVILLE - Dr. Franklin C. Beavers, 90, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2010, at his residence. He was born on October 10, 1919, in Wake County, NC, to George and Daisy Beavers. Dr. Beavers graduated from Wake Forest University and Northwestern University Dental School. He practiced dentistry for forty years, mostly in the Old Town area of Winston-Salem. Dr. Beavers honorably served our nation as a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He enjoyed farming, raising cattle, splitting his own firewood and watching the Atlanta Braves.
Dr. Beavers was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Margery S. Beavers; three sisters, Jane Banks, Lydia Beavers and Alice Beavers; and four brothers, James Beavers, Charles Beavers, George Beavers and David Beavers. He is survived by six children, Christine "Chris" (Vaughn) Hanner, Linda Beavers, Gregg (Shirley Colson) Beavers, Scott (Beverly) Beavers, Yvonne (Richard) Martinez and Kirk (Lisa) Beavers; nine grandchildren, Stuart Beavers, Joshua Beavers, Ryan Beavers, Page Beavers, Eric Beavers, Jacob Beavers, Rachel Martinez, Wren Beavers and Mikayla Martinez.
A Celebration of Life Service for Dr. Beavers will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12, at Voglers Reynolda Road Chapel. Interment will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 11, at the chapel. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staffs of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and New Horizons Home Care for the kindness they showed Dr. Beavers while he was in their care.
