.Winston-Salem- On Wednesday, July 9, 2013, Mrs. Eleanor C. Powell courageously passed from our midst to return to the arms of her Lord in Heaven. There, she is reunited in love with her lifelong sweetheart and soul mate, Jesse E. Powell, Jr. She will also be rejoined with many others whom she loves and who love her, including her parents, William and Carrie Cofer, her eight brothers and sisters, her daughter, Cheryl, and her granddaughter, Abi. Also, waiting there for her are her two well-loved nephews, Jack and Bill, her niece, Nancy, and several of Jessie’s loved ones, including his cousins, Dot and Sam.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, David and Donna Bryant and her grandson, Nick, along with his dear friend, Brandy.
Surviving as well are many nephews and nieces and their children, and cousins of hers and Jesse’s, along with many friends including lifelong friends, those living in the Miller Pointe neighborhood where she lived, and those at her beloved church, Maple Springs United Methodist. A very dear and true friend, who has long cared for and loved both her and Jesse, is Mr. Elly Ibrahim. Because of his love and compassion, we as her family and friends are greatly enriched and blessed.
A private family graveside service will be held on Monday, July 15 followed by a celebration of Eleanor’s life at Maple Springs United Methodist Church at 11:30 AM officiated by Reverends Jeff and Bev Coppley and Reverend Vicky Deng. The family will receive friends following the service at church.
In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
She will long be missed as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Rest well and in peace.
