She was born in Davie County on February 27, 1941 to Grady and Lucy Smith McBride. Dorothy retired from RJ Reynolds after over 30 years of employment. She was a lifelong Christian of the Baptist faith.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Jane Knott, Betty Foster, and Charlie McBride. She leaves behind her son, Timothy Compton of Advance; her sister, Stella (Robert) McCarn of Advance; her brother, Glenn (Barbara) McBride of Rockdale, TX; her nieces, Linda Allen of Norton, VA and Tara McCarn of Advance; her grandchildren, Kara Miller and Ashley Gardener; and many other loved ones and friends.
A funeral service will be Monday, November 27th at 2pm at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home Clemmons Chapel, 2849 Middlebrook Dr. The family will receive friends for a visitation one hour before the service. Interment will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory.
