Dorothy Josephine Fox Andrews, 90, of Winston Salem passed away Tuesday June 25th, 2019 at SalemTowne Retirement Home. Dorothy was born on November 1, 1928 in Winston Salem to William Conrad Fox, Sr, and Kathleen Shore Fox. She graduated from Old Town School in 1946. Dorothy met her husband William Henry (Bill) Andrews at Crystal Lake, a very popular gathering place in Winston Salem, and they married in May of 1948. She and Bill were married for 64 years until his passing in 2012. Dorothy and Bill lived on Pennington Lane in Winston Salem for over 40 years. Dorothy loved her family, Church, cooking, knitting, plants, and many friends. Dorothy would have friends bring her the ingredients for her cakes, pies, and pimento and cheese, and ask her to make them, saying, “they just don’t taste the same without your preparation”.
Before entering her retirement home, Dorothy attended Fairview Moravian Church, and loved her Sunday School Class, and circles. She was preceded in death by husband William H. (Bill) Andrews, 3 brothers, William Conrad Fox, Jr (Mary Evelyn), Richard Lee Fox (Betty) and Edward Shore Fox (Tommye Ann), 3 sisters, Sue Fox Turner, Betty Jean Giandonato (Jerry) and Jo Ann Lehman ( Everett) Surviving are two sons, John Michael Andrews of Winston Salem, James Bryan Andrews, Sr of Winston Salem, (Stephanie), Sister, Kathy Martin, Marietta GA (Doug) , four grandchildren; Cortney Elaine Andrews of Paris TN (Josh), Lauren Andrews Hazzenzahl of Charlotte (Drew), Justin Miles Andrews of Charlotte (Jenn), and James Bryan Andrews, Jr of Winston Salem (Emily), four great grandchildren, Bo and Blake Hazzenzahl, Hannah and Ari Andrews, Dorothy had many nephews and nieces which she spoke of often, and a very special friend Connie Davis and her daughter Kathy. There are too many people to thank at Salemtowne Retirement Community where Dorothy resided since 2012. A special thank you to Debbie Norton at Salemtowne for being a thoughtful friend. A Service will be held at Fairview Moravian Church at 11:00 on Monday July 1st. The family will have a brief visitation at The Church from 10:00-11:00 . Interment will follow in God’s Acre in Old Salem. In Lieu of Flowers, memorials May be made to Fairview Memorial Church, 6550 Silas Creek Parkway, WS, NC 27106.
