WINSTON-SALEM - Connie Max Thomas, 83, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010. II Corinthians 5:8; "We are confident I say and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord." Mr. Thomas was born July 14, 1926 to the late Pearl and John Thomas. He was a member of the First Assembly of God where he served the Lord as an usher. He was also a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters union for many years and was a Business Agent for fourteen years. Mr. Thomas served his country proudly in the navy on the USS Herald during WWII.
He was preceded in death by one of his beloved grand-daughters, Nickole Marie Butcher, two sisters; Vila Logan and Eva Sealey, two brothers; John Dewitt Thomas and Jody Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Maxine Thomas, a daughter, Bronna (Tom) Barber, son, Ric Thomas, his grand-daughter, Connie Barber, and his sister, Hazel Sisk of Greer, SC.
The family will receive friends at Vogler's Reynolda Chapel on Wednesday, March 24, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2010, 2:00 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Cemetery, 780 Mt. Zion Ch. Rd., Stokesdale, NC 27357 with Pastor Danny Chatham officiating. A special thanks to Hospice nurses and Dr. Karen Cross.
