Born May 15, 1931 in Tampa, FL, Dick was the son of the late Clarence Franklin Dixon and the late Alta McSwain Dixon. He attended North Carolina State University and graduated in 1954 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
After living in Goldsboro, NC for 10 years, he and his family moved to Greensboro, NC where they lived for the next 50 plus years. He and his wife Laura moved to Salemtowne Retirement Community in Winston-Salem, NC last year to be closer to family.
Dick had a love of many things including sports cars, photography and golf; his pride and joy was a classic 1953 MG TD. He and his wife spent over 25 summers at Virginia Highland Haven Airstream Park where they enjoyed friends and made many precious memories with their children and grandchildren. Dick had a love for the Methodist church and spent a lot of time serving his church family.
Survivors include his wife Laura Williams Dixon; children Thomas Lloyd Dixon and wife Brigitta, Richard Williams Dixon and wife Lee; grandchildren Elizabeth Dixon Corbin and husband Will, and Richard Williams Dixon Jr; brother Rodney McSwain Dixon and sister June Dixon Alexander and husband Jim.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at Mount Tabor United Methodist church in Winston-Salem, NC at 3pm. The service will start at 4pm.
Memorials may be made to Mount Tabor United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem, NC or West Market Street United Methodist Church in Greensboro, NC.
