Clemmons, NC – Ms. Carole (Tucker) Hutton, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at The Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born on July 1, 1940, in Roanoke, Va. to the late Hilton Holt Tucker and Clara (Ault) Tucker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry “Al” Nelson Hutton, and brothers, Hilton “Mike” Tucker Jr. and Thomas Ault Tucker.
She is survived by her sons Thomas Ault Hutton, Christopher Dean Hutton (Amy) and Patrick Nelson Hutton (Angie), seven grandchildren, Tanner, Tucker, Jake, Luke, Brooke, Faith, and Claire, and two great grandchildren, Elizabeth, and Everest, and one still to arrive, Atlas Reign.
Carole attended The Medical College of Georgia and then graduated from The Radford Community Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse for over 50 years and retired from Wake Forest University Student Health Services. In addition, she spent several summers working at the NC Governor’s School at Salem College in the Infirmary Department. Prior to working at Wake Forest, she worked with special needs children at the Special Children’s School in Winston-Salem NC. Carole always had a passion for helping children of various ages throughout her working career and beyond. She was affectionately known as “Mama Carole” at work and “Mama Hutt” to all the neighborhood kids.
Carole was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and was especially proud of her three sons that she raised on her own as a widow. She easily made friends wherever she went and would light up the room with her presence and sense of humor. She always made herself approachable and would lend an ear to anyone that needed someone to talk to for advice or support.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, Forsyth Medical Center and Clemmons Village II Assisted Living Facility for the support and care of Carole over the past couple of months. And a special thank you to all her close friends that called and checked on her on a regular basis.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, Monday, April 15, 2024, at Frank Vogler & Son’s, 2849 Middlebrook Drive, Clemmons, NC, with Pastor Chris Thore officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the funeral home. A private graveside service will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory.
