Betty Victoria Messick Matthews, 76, of Boonville, died Sunday at Forsyth Medical Center. Born in Forsyth County, Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her parents David Furches and Josephine Moser Messick; her husband Edgar S. Matthews Sr.; sister Nancy Messick; and brothers John David Messick and Joe Messick.
Surviving family includes her son Eddie Matthews and his wife Melanie of Boonville; grandchildren Jana, Josie, and Jacob; adopted daughter Sherrin Rosemoon and her daughter Kennedy; sisters and their husbands Janice (Robert) Palmer of Lewisville, Julie (Edd) Hauser of Raleigh; brothers and their wives Bob (Patsy) Messick of Lewisville, Harold (Jane) Messick of Greensboro, and Tom (Liz) Messick of Lewisville; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Matthews was a member of South Fork Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School for many years and loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and gardening.
A Funeral Service celebrating the Life of Betty Victoria Messick Matthews will be conducted on Wednesday (April 13, 2011) 11:00 AM at the South Fork Church of Christ, 205 Keating Drive, Winston-Salem 27104 (336-768-0249) with Charles Belch and Bill Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will visit with their friends on Tuesday (today) from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Vogler Funeral Home Clemmons Chapel, 2849 Middlebrook Drive, Clemmons 27012 (336-766-4714).
