Betty Jo Pritchard Gordon

Betty was born on April 23, 1935 at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem to Minnie Lee Hutchens and Joseph Wade Pritchard. She graduated Hanes High School class of 1953 and worked at RJ Reynolds after graduation. She taught at Whitaker Elementary School from 1973 to 1996 retiring after 33 years of service.

Betty was married to George Richard “Jack” Gordon for fifty eight years until Jack’s death in 2013. Her brother, Charlie Gray Pritchard, preceded her in June of 2015.

She is survived by son, George Lee Gordon of Washington, DC; Cindy Pritchard Martin and husband Tony of Tobaccoville; sister-in-law, Rachel Alice Gordon Blevins of Atlanta GA; sister-in-law Terry Stonosky Gordon of Inman, SC; nephew, Reece Gordon and wife Anne of Greensboro; nieces, Sharon Penley and husband Charles of Greensboro, Cindy Garren and husband David of Inman, SC, Susan Fulton of Winston-Salem, Lisa Blevins of Atlanta, GA, and Julie Gordon of NH.

Daughter, sister, wife, mother, teacher and friend. She loved dearly and was dearly loved. Her bright smile and infectious laughter will be missed.

The family will receive guests from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Friday, May 27, at Frank Vogler & Sons Reynolda Chapel. The funeral will be Friday, May 27, 2:00 pm at the funeral home officiated by Reverend Charles Penley. Internment will take place in Forsyth Memorial Park.
