Barbara Ann Hoffman Brewer

Barbara was born August 29, 1941 in Gaston County, North Carolina. She later moved to North Carolina where, after the untimely death of her father, she was raised in the Baptist Children’s Home until she graduated high school. Barbara graduated from Gardner–Webb University and worked in the fundraising department at Bowman Grey School of Medicine before leaving the corporate world to raise her sons.

In years past she enjoyed antiquing, was a regular patron of the library who was always reading, and was an avid flower gardener who loved spending time in her yard. More recently she looked forward to every opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Bobby Hoffman. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Dan; sons Patrick W. Brewer of Apex and J. Michael Brewer of Huntersville; daughter-in-law Ge Yang Brewer of Huntersville; grandchildren, Carolyn, June, Elise, and Zack;

sister, Dorothy Vernon of Winston-Salem; brother, Russell Hoffman of Durham; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the chapel of Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home in Clemmons with visitation and reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Baptist Children’s Home at 204 Idol Street, Thomasville, NC 27360.
