5/19/1955 – 11/12/2024
William was born in Philadelphia on May 19,1955 and grew up in Havertown, PA. He was pre-deceased by his parents William and Rita (nee) Kinsley, and brother Steven. Affectionally known as Billy, he leaves behind his beloved wife Susan (nee) McGarry; son William and partner Cindy; daughter Katie and partner Rob; and five grandchildren: Emily, Caden, Dixon, Sarah & Piper, who were all near & dear to his heart!
Bill & Sue married in ’74 and bought their first home on Shields St in SW Philly. Their two children were born and raised there. He lived an exciting life, and they threw EPIC parties; Christmas, Birthdays, Halloween, etc. These were the parties that no one ever wanted to miss, and they are still talked about today! Bill was always the perfect host.
In ’96, Bill was offered a new job which took him to Florida, where his family grew, with five new grandchildren.
Bill is known as the miracle man who survived hospice; then went through 2 years of waiting to get on the transplant list. Then, once he was approved for the list, he miraculously got a call 2 days later that he was a match for a liver! He called it his gift from God.
Bill will forever be known as the life of the party, the Florida tour guide, and the man with many hats wearing tropical shirts with a cigar in his hand! Play any Beatles or Jimmy Buffett tune, and he knew all the words.
Even though he’s Philly born, he loved the Tampa Bay Lightning. Many a night was spent in his lanai watching sports or just relaxing with friends & family.
Whenever anyone was leaving, Bill would always say “See ya later, alligator.” In response now, we can all say … “After a while crocodile.”
A memorial will be held at Sylvan Abbey on February 1st at 2:30
