September 1, 2025 – April 13, 2024
Antonio and Caterina Pallone came to America from the Calabria region of Italy. Settling in Syracuse, NY they brought eleven children into the world, the youngest was Rosemarie Frances. When her mother died, at a young age, Rose took on the role of homemaker for her father and siblings…she was only 13. Rose gave birth to four sons with her husband, James King, and while raising the boys managed to work at Syracuse retail stores WT Grants, Stride Rite Shoes, and local grocery. With the support of her sister Anna, the boys were treated to music lessons and often performed at family functions.
Rose and James moved to Florida in the early 80’s, where she worked at Dillards and occasionally spent “family-time” with her FL siblings. After Jim passed away Rose married Fred H. Kuhn, lived in Clearwater and enjoyed several years of traveling and visiting family in Syracuse and on the west coast. When Fred became ill they moved to Inn on The Pond for “assisted living” where they became part of a supportive and fun-loving family of friends. Fred passed away in 2016 and Rose continued to reside in her apartment at Inn on The Pond (now The Preserves at Clearwater), remaining active with group activities and being the “unofficial” welcome/greeter to new residents. Rose put family first, caring, helping, nurturing and supporting EVERYONE who needed her. She always had a kind word and infectious smile. She even kept a dish of candy on her kitchen table for resident workers to “help themselves” and as a way to thank them for the work they do.
This young nonagenarian passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, April 13th. Rosemarie is survived by three of her sons and daugthers-in-law, James King (Janice), John King, Sr. (Karin), Dan King (Sara); four grandchildren, John King, Jr., Rick King, Christina Martinez and Julie King; five great-grandchildren, Antonio Martinez, John King, III, Cecilia Martinez, Justin King and Jason King. Her youngest son, Patrick, passed away a month before her, survived by ex-wife, Lynda.
A visitation for Rosemarie will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 10:00 AM until the funeral mass at 11:00 AM, Saint Michael The Archangel, 2281 State Road 580, Clearwater, FL 33763. Interment will follow at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, 2860 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Florida 33759.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Suncoast Hospice.
